Welcome to the Runner Beans Web Site

We are becoming a nation of ever increasing waist lines, sometimes this is caused by medical reasons beyond our control, but mostly its not. Our lifestyle is changing, mainly for the better in terms of luxury items, but in terms of daily physical activity it is worsening. Cars to work, cars to the shops, cars to visit people, the list could be endless.

People from time to time visit health clubs, gyms, and sports centres, to counteract this, which are fine but sometimes expensive, overcrowded, and limited times of day available to go to.

Running is an activity which, can easily overcome these issues, and have great health benefits generated in a noticeable short time.

Except for buying a sensible pair of running shoes, running is free, no other equipment is really needed. Parks, woodlands, and cycle tracks are generally not too crowded, and there is no limit to the time of day that you can run, whether its in the morning before work, afternoon or late in the evening, anyone can find time that  suits.

This site is here NOT to preach a healthy lifestyle to anyone, but merely a guide and a meeting point for like minded souls to learn, discuss and encourage each other about aspects of running.

Running has amazing benefits, but basically, you get fit, and lose weight, while releasing those lovely natural endorphins into the body, giving a feeling of great achievement, and stress reduction. It is also a great way, to get out into the countryside and take pleasure in nature. Some people use this opportunity to do other activities such as photography.

As you will see on this site, a few of us take cameras out while running, hoping to capture and record new memories we can look back on over the years.

People join running clubs for their own personal reasons, but I have found, for me, that this club is about enjoying a sport, with like minded friends, who encourage each other, to get out there, and have fun. Because at the end of the day, if its not fun, and you find it a chore, then runs will become less and less frequent, and you will finally give up.

The Runner Beans club, was set up for this reason, we like to run, and enjoy talking about it. Collectively, we are from the Consett and Durham area, but don’t let that put you off, we don’t mind expanding to other locations, whether in the north east or further afield. Come on in and look around the site and don’t hesitate to forward ideas to us.

We hope to see you running around the street, fields, woodlands and cycle tracks soon.
